Chocolate Fig Old Fashioned


Cozy sweaters, baking spices, and figs are my favorite things about fall! I recently discovered that chocolate-dipped figs are simply heaven and have been eating them nonstop. The Chocolate Fig Old Fashioned is this little indulgence in cocktail form mixed with a fresh fig syrup, creme de cacao, and the essential Old Fashioned ingredient: Angostura aromatic bitters. The baking spice notes of Angostura bitters perfectly pair with the jammy flavor of figs.


  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1/4 oz creme de cacao
  • 1/4 oz fig syrup (recipe below)
  • 3 dashes @angosturahouse aromatic bitters
  • orange peel
  • garnish: chocolate covered fig, orange peel

In a glass, add a large cube of ice. Add all ingredients and stir. Twist orange over glass to release oils and discard. Garnish with chocolate covered fig ( I dipped figs into dark chocolate & then rolled them in crushed pistachios)


  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup figs, chopped

Add water and sugar into a sauce pan over medium heat. Once sugar is melted, add figs and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and muddle figs. Let infuse for 1 hour. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a jar. Store in the fridge for up to 1 month.
