Coffee Bean Bamboo- infuse coffee easily into cocktails

Mixed with coffee beans right in the glass rather than a long infusion with them, or by using a coffee liqueur, the familiar flavor that whispers through out this Coffee Bean Bamboo will be right on the tip of the tongue, yet almost indistinguishable among the classic Bamboo notes of sherry, herbal vermouth, orange, and spice.

The ingenious idea to mix the coffee beans right into the glass for a quick jolt of coffee flavor comes from Punch via Parisian bartender Nico de Soto. Coffee takes a far back seat used in this way, rather than taking center stage as it often does in coffee cocktails. Bamboos already lend themselves as perfect brunch drinks thanks to their low ABV nature. Mixing them up with some coffee beans for a Coffee Bean Bamboo makes them even more of a leisurely breakfast sipper.

As de Soto notes, use coffee beans with a longer roast, medium or dark, where more oils are present to quickly infuse your cocktail with coffee flavor. Bamboos are just the beginning; think of all the cocktail possibilities where a whisper of coffee would be a welcome, yet subtle note in a drink. And with that, I am off to whip up a Coffee Bean Sazerac!
