T’was the Cocktail Series Before Christmas: Night 3 of 12 – The Not So Old Fashioned

Tonight’s cocktail releases a breath of fresh air upon a classic cocktail, the Old Fashioned. Subbing in a dash of agave for the traditional sugar cube, and replacing whiskey with tequila, this exercise in chill-you-can-chug seems poised to be a once and future hit at your next Christmas gathering. And don’t forget the orange peel garnish!

  • 2 oz. añejo tequila
  • 1 cherry
  • Dash orange bitters
  • Dash angostura bitters
  • Dash agave
  • Orange peel for garnish

Preparation: In a separate glass, muddle the agave, orange bitters, angostura, and cherry. Add tequila and ice, then stir. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass. Garnish with orange peel.
