A Valentine’s Day without a themed cocktail is like a desert at midnight without a bonfire. That is to say, it’s cold, unpleasant, and thoroughly inhospitable (at least in our humble opinion). Lucky for us and for all, it doesn’t have to be that way. It can be sweet. It can offer up a pleasing kick of brandy. It can taste like ripe, sun-warmed citrus wedges and raspberries kissed with balsamic strawberry essence. We promise, it can. Because we found it in this cocktail recipe that summons all of those flavors together in a glass of romance-laced festivity. No need to go wandering amidst the dunes in search of a suitable sip.
2 oz G.E. Massenez Plum Brandy
0.5 oz strawberry balsamic puree
0.5 oz lemon raspberry oleo saccharum
4 oz Prosecco
0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
Strawberry balsamic puree
- 3 cups chopped strawberries
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1/3 cup Balsamic vinegar
- Bring strawberries, water and sugar to a low simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Blend together strawberries, water and sugar.
- Add Balsamic then bring to medium high heat for 10 minutes.
Method: Shake brandy, puree, oleo saccharum and lemon juice with ice. Add prosecco to the tin and stir. Double strain into a flute. Garnish with a dried strawberry.
